The guy who runs this shop is really nice.  I just dig the place... isn't too proud of itself, it has a great reputation and the selection is strong.  If they don't have something you are looking for, they will almost always order it.  The prices are competitive even when matched against the likes of Freddies, etc.

Portland loves coffee.  Portlanders love coffee.  Whatever way you say it, this town is chalked full of dozens of coffee shops, seemingly full throughout the entire day.  While I love the seriousness with which a Barista or a Heart takes their identity, I do love a cafe that has an identity true to itself.  Costellos is fantastic in every way.  Its identity is indicative of its clientele I suppose: a diverse mixing of eastsiders and I suppose from time to time travelers of all ages.  The coffee is great, the service is incredible and the ambiance warm and inviting.  WHAT MAKES COSTELLOS GREAT, IS THEIR LOVE OF SOCCER!  Watching the world cup matches here has been something I have done for two cups now.  The ambiance is perfect, the patrons dedicated to their morning joe and to taking in a good match.  While I wish they would open earlier due to the 80+ people who get their before a game, I will take the 15 minutes they afford you prior to kick off.  Finally, I should mention that I love Costello's because it is down the street from my home.

I could have one of their pretzels now!!  The beer is great, the location is great, the outdoor patio is perfect, the adjacent food carts are placed perfectly nearby and overall the place nails it!  BUT!!!  Again, I come back to the pretzels!!!  They are so so good!

Mississippi Station is a great venue for a small show.  The concert area is beatiful in a sense.. I love that I can grab eats next door and on a warm weather day eat on their patio outside prior to a show.  The location is great if you like the Boise neighborhood and Mississippi Ave. (WHICH I DO).  I like the bar set up at a show, the balcony is tight but kinda cool and the lights are truly iconic.

Vivace Coffee House & Creperie   Apr 16

Neighborhood: Northwest/Nob Hill

I throw down the challenge because to me it is..  I love Vivace!  The victoian era home that welcomes 20 to 30 patrons into its cozy interior serves up some of the best coffee and pastries in town... and if you feel like more they have a kitchen which can whip up more invovled eats.   The outdoor patio is host to maybe 6 or 7 tables and the location is prime for people watching or just getting into a book, your facebook page (kidding) or just a good conversation with a friend.  I have not one single hang up with Vivace...

We have one.  Better safe than sorry.  For $1650 to $2500 bucks isn't it just worth not having to deal with the issue when you sell?

I like the comments above!!!  I agree... I also think it is weird that Portlanders (at least the thousands on the east side) ride bikes without helmets.  Why is this "cool" here?
